Feat. Safurizor (JA Musician)

WHO?

Nur Safuraa Binte Osman, 20 joined Jammerz Arena as a JA Vocalist since 2010 and have moved on to achieving and learning more in terms of musicianship, performance skills and stage theatrics. She may be small in size, but her taste for music and talents extends beyond her size as she owned the stage of the recent “Jam & Hop 2011” with her band 99 Anchors cover of Metallica’s “Creeping Death”. With an interesting vocal range that has left many puzzled at where she’s able to sing songs that demands lots of strong vocals and charisma to not only front the band but the song itself too. Being A Year 2 Student taking a Diploma in Wellness, Lifestyle & Spa Management” we can very well see how diverse she is in her music taste and studies. Having displayed exceptional leadership abilities to lead her peers as stage manager for JA’s “Quintessential” Reflections Arts Festival performance 2010, she was than nominated to be the leader of the Junior Exco Committee. She is currently a vocalist in her band “99 Anchors”.

If a fruit were to be used to describe yourself, what fruit would you choose and why?

Mangoesteen. It looked very hard and unappealing on the outside but the fruit is in fact very sweet and delicious not to mention soft in the inside. The same concept can be applied to me, since on stage I am of a different persona but off stage I am another whole different person. Furthermore, Mangosteen is purple in colour and I love purple! J

What is it like being a member in Jammerz Arena?

Mostly it has been a fun and interesting experience and I am really glad and really appreciated the fact that I got accepted into Jammerz Arena since it’s hard to get into Jammerz Arena in the first place. Being in JA enables me to get exposed to other passionate members from different background thus it has been an eye opener for me since I was able to learn about different type of music and genres.

Heard you were in choir? Tell us more about it?

I was in choir when I was in my secondary school. Back then, students in my secondary school were forced to go for Choir auditions and after I did mine, the teacher in charge of choir cheekily told me and others that we have to join choir since we went to the audition or we will get punished. Being naïve as I was and scared of getting punished, I went to join Choir after all. Thinking back, I am kind of grateful even though in a grudgingly way that I joined choir or else my passion in singing would have died somewhere or I would not have been fortunate enough to have sufficient skills to join Jammerz Arena.

Do you have any advices for our potential new JA members?

JA is not just about rocking it out and being a rock star, it is also having the right recipes: discipline and attitude and skills. If you have the will to go after your passion and the 3 recipes, everything is possible.
