WHO?

Uthaiyan Kumanan aka “Utha” joined Jammerz Arena as a Drummer back in 2009, taking a Diploma in New Media and also a versatile music composer. Utha has gone on from producing his own music with his ex-band “13 is a Crowd” to playing on big stages like IGNITE music festival and the inaugural “Journey of the Youth Olympic Flame 2010” with his current band “Paradox”. Equipped with prior knowledge on productions, he was assigned the task to set up a new wing in Jammerz Arena known as “Tech Crew”. Leading the team as “Technical Manager; now known as “Production Manager”; JA’s Production team has gone on to receive countless praises and respect from our advisors and staff from The Republic Cultural Centre. As disciplined as “Utha” is, he has not only gained respect from his peers for the amount of knowledge he possess but also his jovial attitude that helps balance out the strict and disciplined moments he portrays to his fellow peers.

Choose A Fruit That Best Describes You?

I can’t really think of a fruit to describe myself, that wouldn’t end up as a joke on me, but to describe if someone who can end up both sour and sweet when you’re working with me, cause I’m serious about standards and doing the job properly no matter how long it takes.

Why Jammerz Arena?

Jammerz Arena was just filled with so many opportunities, ay sensible show would have went for the grab, just as I did, in fact I failed auditions once I never gave up!

What is a typical schedule like for a JA member in a year?

Honestly it’s like sports seasons, there are lazy days, and days you just rehearse so intensely you forget the time. These times are really unforgettable to me, I will always remember the days I’ve spent with my brothers and sisters.

How has Jammerz Arena opened up new avenues of interests to you?

Initially I joined JA as a musician, at that point in my life I was just all about being a musician, nothing else mattered to me. During the forming of committees My dear friend and President of the IG TK gave me a peculiar job, he made me in-charge of maintaining equipments in the IG, somehow this role snowballed into me producing my first show for JA. This is when I met an Individual who was and is key in shaping my life to what it is today. During this show Mark “Toobes” Spencer(Now JA’s Advisor alongside Muhamed ‘Leo’aidil) painstakingly did sound-check with strangers he’s never met in his life, all to let me run the board at the end of the day for the show. This was what has brought me to the journey I’m currently on, cause after that show, I felt what it was like to be behind a show’s success, even if I never constructed it, I felt the pride of building the stage I performed on, a key value that is instilled to all JA members. Had it not been for Mark and that opportunity, today I would not have been a Production Manager nor would I have had the chance of being backstage in some of the most exclusive shows! It’s funny as I write this I recall just less than a year ago all of us were complete strangers, and yesterday Me and Mark were dreaming about the future and how we’d like to be on tour together in 2015,we were elaborating on all the crazy Ideas we’d invent and execute. So before I get a little emotional a big thank you to Mark, TK and all those in the create Family for giving me this opportunities.
