JAMMERZ ARENA JUNE, JULY MADNESS!! ** (Must be the letter J's)
June & July was a period of madness for jammerz arena, as their members were tied down with endless events, rehearsals, previews and performances. As some of the members jokingly shared, Jammerz arena was on performance tour and we had managed to tour every major areas in republic poly. Every single member in jammerz arena was tied down from their head to toe. As the members slowly recuperate from their loss of sleep and show preparation from JA's NOOB camp for newbie's in the early months of june. They had to immediately prepare themselves for their next battle. Ensuring that standards are not compromised, Jammerz took the ultimate sacrifice and ended up having bad set backs for the performing groups, with members falling sick and many other hiccups, Jammerz still managed to pull of a show that has left everyone remembering and wanting for more. With an overall audience outreach size of thousands for its arts platter show "IGNITE YOUR DREAMS", jammerz arena has been proven to be versatile yet being able to capture audeinces heart and attentions. Sounds of jammerz arena were widely spread across RP's Campuses, as the sounds from the south agora stage travels through the lonely quiet corners of the School.
As we prepare for our debut IGNITE performance, we cannot express the kind of feelings that we were feeling back than. But if given an opportunity, we would loudly stand and say that jammerz arena has grown and has made it to IGNITE music festival, a key stepping stone in any musicians career. Looking back to the times before our "Revival" gig, where we have seen jammerz arena went down the hill thanks to our senior batch. Jammerz arena has grown both in size and public image. Sticking to our core values namely great skills, commitment to craft and interest group, good attitude towards learning, responsibility in the tasks assigned to us and not forgetting the responsibilty as a student to perform well in their studies and lastly the initiative towards helping one another. Such values has been able to guide jammerz arena members in achieving what we are today. With countless experiences gained thanks to the wonderful people at "The Republic Cultural Centre", no doubt has given students like us in jammerz arena an amazing platform to learn and express ourselves everyday.
As we took the stages for IGNITE sound check, we were all excited and had butterfly's all over our tummies. We clearly remembered one thing which was the shear fact that the non performing members of jammerz also came down to show their support. Which was clearly heartening to see and a definite morale booster. Thats what jammerz is all about, "Family". We play together, we smile together, we cry together and we share our worries with one another. With all our bands going up against the bid for performing in the new channel 5's show "One Moment Of Glory", that was when there and than that we realize how much we have moved on to. The best moment of the night, was how jammerz got together and cheered before each band went up on stage. A small gesture goes a long way, its little things like this that help keep each others feeling contented and motivated. Sound check and auditions were just amazing, thanks to our juniors, media crews, tech crews and not forgetting TRCC's sound and lighting team for an amazing evening of dreams made into reality.
IGNITE Music festival 2010, happened on the 3 & 4 july and has hit a total of 6,000 over audiences in just teo days. It was such a blast for jammerz arena. We were blessed with good weather, shady sun and not forgetting great audiences. As Paradox and Fade from our very own JA interest group took the stage. All we can say is that, it was truly a life experience being able to stand on that stage sweating, singing and working. Jammerz Arena not only supported IGNITE 2010 with music artistes, but also technical crews to assist in the set up, tear down and not forgetting smooth flow of the show as stage hands. No doubt, Republic Poly and The Republic Cultural Centre has enabled the music goers in our interest group an opportunity to do what we love most and not forgetting at the same time be exposed to other forms of arts and performances.
Note from President of Jammerz Arena..
"There is still a long and winding road waiting for us jammerz, let us not celebrate too soon. For we must always work hard, stay humble and understand the privelleges given to us to express ourselves on stage through many different forms, be it photography, music or even theatrics."
